Brasil Brazil Brasil

Oh why is it so hard for us to get into your country?

Last night my mom was able to find one document from a lawyer dated back in 1988 that has my name and both parent’s names. The only thing is that although it is notorized and it is a legal peice of paper, it has my last name on it before I got a legal name change. Long story – but only adds to the drama of this situation. To make things worse when you have a legal name change in Canada the goverment does not issue a paper stating your old name and then your new name. I am becoming MORE and MORE annoyed with my country. So that leave us with two options:

1. The embassy has an overload of grace and mercy on us, accepts the offered document with a smile, and issues the kids a passport with a HUGE smile on their faces. This obviously is what we are praying for , since it is the preferred option.

2. I already rushed the long form birth certificate to my parents house. That will take 5 days, and then another 2 days to get to us in Mpls, or perhaps just to the hotel we plan on staying at in Chicago. This is not our favorite option because that brings us to NEXT Wednesday, which leaves us one week before we fly to Brazil. We run the risk of having to change our plane tickets. Which is pricey. And annoying. AND DEPRESSING.

I’ll be honest to say that both Michael and I are pretty discouraged. Just last week we were elated that our date was set, and now…well we are at the mercy of others.

This morning the embassy will be looking at the document we sent in and let us know if they will accept it or not. PLEASE PRAY. We need your prayers. We need grace, and mercy, and someone at the consulate that is so understanding of our situation!

We will keep you updated throughout the day.
