Poop

Yes I am posting about poop, bear with me.

Two weeks ago Michael came to me concerned with the colour of Lili’s poop.

It was bright green, and kind of stringy.

I told him that it was no big deal and not to worry. Poop comes in lots of shades. It has been like that for weeks now. And it is perfectly normal. Right?

Then the other night, just in case, I decided to do a little research online. You guessed it. I googled Baby’s green poop.

Wouldn’t you know that baby’s green poop is associated with dairy allergies!

Now It may be a fluke, but every since I cut out dairy, not only do I have a happier baby that screams much much less, and sleeps and smiles much much more, her poop is now the perfectly normal colour yellow.

Hmm…

I never thought I would be thankful that our solution is an allergy. Her reflux seems to have calmed down a bit, and her episodes are farther between and much shorter. Also the reflux medicine that we can use once a day, during the worst of it, is a miracle.

Now I have oodles and oodles of time to do things like laundry, cleaning, dishes, and other exciting domestic chores.

Or I may just spend my time getting re-aquainted with my little joy and her siblings…that and take a shower!

hello, Cari dear!! I have been following your trials faithfully, and I want to reassure you about the dairy thing. My cousin (Aidan’s age) had the same exact thing! And she isn’t allergic to dairy, she just couldn’t process the protiens from dairy in her mommy’s milk until she was about 8 or 9 months old. She screamed all the time and they just thought she had colic for about 2 months, then a chiropractor adjusted her and told her mom about the dairy thing. presto – new baby. I know everyone probably has a solution for you, and it can seem impossible to try them all. But I hope for your sake (and Lili’s!!) that this will continue to heal her and give her comfort. You are a wonderful Mommy! And we miss you so much :)

Oh, Cari, I’m so glad little Lili is starting to feel better. I’m sure it makes for a much happier house. Let the sun shine in!

Connor has a mild dairy allergy or lactose intolerance or whatever. And if he has too much dairy or any fluid milk, his poop turns greenish too. And is really runny and smelly. I don’t know how we even decided it could be a dairy thing but I’m glad we figured it out. And glad you did too!
